Dr. Alena Smadych
Dr. Alena Smadych has been professionally involved and practicing all things dentistry related for over 25 years! It was her love of helping people feel confident in their smiles, as well as her commitment to helping people achieve their long-term health and educating them on how to achieve this, that led her to begin her fulfilling dental journey in her home country of Russia. After graduating as a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Medical Academy of Izhevsk, Russia in 1993, Dr. Smadych decided to move to Canada with her family. Once settled, she enrolled at the Dalhousie University of Dentistry. During her residency there, she opted to do additional training for dental implant surgery, ultimately graduating with her Canadian equivalency license – receiving a Gold Medal for her class in 2010.
Her time spent expanding her knowledge in the field of dental implant surgery led Dr. Smadych to realize her love for all things surgically involved. This led her to attend the world-renowned Esparza Implant Institute in Bogota, Colombia, where she gained certification in live surgical training in 2012. From there, Dr. Smadych continued expanding her capabilities by obtaining her Soft Tissue; Management of Implant Dentistry certification in 2017, at the Implant Institute in Toronto. Dr. Smadych finalized the course in Lake Como, Italy, and brought those skills back to Canada with her.
Equipped with what she felt was a wide knowledge basis, Dr. Smadych moved to our beautiful city of Calgary in 2013, where she opened All About Family Dental Care, installing state of the art technology to bring her patients the best specialized care possible. This has been her pride and joy ever since! Dr. Smadych, or Alena as most of her patients lovingly call her, is soft spoken and kind. She provides a gentle touch and a warm embrace when a patient presents with nerves. She is patient and has strong beliefs in a hands-on approach to dentistry that results in zero pain. For this reason, and so many others, Dr. Smadych’s loyal patients refer her to anyone that has nerves or anxieties around dental procedures. Though rarely necessary, Dr. Smadych is equipped to offer sedation dentistry as well.
When Dr. Smadych is not busy at the clinic practicing what she loves, or continuing her education, her other true joy in life is her family. Dr. Smadych has 3 children (one of which recently gave her the gift of her first grandchild) that she and her husband adore spending their free time. Whether it be travelling, escaping to the beautiful Rocky Mountains for a hike, spoiling her little grandson, or simply hosting a warm dinner, Dr. Smadych’s s happiness with life and family shines through in her smile and compassionate mannerisms. For all these reasons and so many more, we are sure you will be in the best of hands.
