It is an effective treatment to whiten, brighten and restore teeth that are stained, darkened, dull, or discoloured from things like coffee, tea, cola, wine, smoking or general again. Teeth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, so it is important to evaluate the replacement of any old fillings, crowns etc., replacement of which would be done after bleaching to ensure a good match with your newly bleached teeth. Home teeth whitening kits are a safe and effective way to brighten your teeth in the comfort, privacy, and convenience of your own home. It usually requires two visits. At your first appointment, impressions (molds) of your teeth will be made in order to fabricate custom, clear, plastic trays. At your second appointment, you will try on the trays for proper fit, and any adjustments will be made if necessary. The trays will then be sent home with you, along with a special hydrogen peroxide solution. The trays are filled with the gel and applied over your teeth, and worn either twice a day for 30 minutes, or overnight, for a couple of weeks depending on the degree of staining and the desired level of whitening. Most patients see excellent results in one to two weeks, with noticeably whiter teeth over this time, although individual results can vary. It is normal to experience some tooth sensitivity during your treatment, which will subside shortly after you have stopped bleaching. You will receive care instructions for your teeth and trays and be encouraged to visit your dentist regularly to help maintain a white, healthy and beautiful smile.

In-office teeth whitening is a safe and simple procedure performed by our dentists at our clinic. The procedure begins with your dentist first covering your lips and gums, leaving only your teeth exposed. Next, a hydrogen peroxide solution will be applied to your teeth, and then exposed to a special LED light. The light activates the gel, which works to break apart the carbon bonds that create the staining and discolouration on your teeth. The entire process takes about 60 minutes and is repeated 3-4 times for optimum results. The process does not damage or affect the structure of your teeth in any way, and the end result is a noticeably brighter and whiter smile!
